Reflectance
The reflectance describes the proportion of electromagnetic radiation that is reflected by an object. The non-reflected radiation is absorbed and/or transmitted.
The reflectance ρ is calculated for opaque bodies (transmittance τ = 0) from ρ = 1 - α.
with
α: absorptance
The reflectance of a body depends on the surface structure, the material and the wavelength of the radiation.
Objects with a high reflectance emit little radiation and therefore require special measuring systems with customized sensors and lenses.
